Dr Carlos Esquivel is a Digestive Surgeon, and chief of the Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery program at the Sanatorio Allende Hospital, Cordoba, Argentina. He made his general surgery residence at the General Surgery Department of the Sanatorio Allende Hospital, then he was chief of surgery residence and then he made a research fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Cleveland Clinic, Weston, Florida, USA, under the direction of Dr. Raul Rosenthal. After that, he made a clinical fellowship in bariatric and metabolic surgery at the Catholic University of Cordoba and Sanatorio Allende Hospital. He made his Doctoral Thesis at the Catholic University of Cordoba, with the topic “Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy Resolves NAFLD”, then it was published in Obesity Surgery Journal.
He is a member of the Argentine Society of Surgery (AAC), the Argentine Society of Obesity and Surgery (SACO), and the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO). He is the general secretary of SACO and coordinator of the Education Committee.
He published several scientific articles in indexed medical journals, as well as presented different conferences at international medical congresses, and wrote chapters of books of the specialty.
His main professional and scientific interests focus on primary and revisional bariatric and metabolic surgery, as well as artificial intelligence applied to the surgery field.
