Dr. Fernando de Barros is a bariatric and robotic Surgeon and Associate Professor at the Department of Surgery, Fluminense Federal University, Brazil.
Dr. Barros is the current President of the Brazilian Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery – Chapter Rio de Janeiro. Completed a Medical Residency in General Surgery (2006 to 2008) and in Videolaparoscopy (2008 to 2009). He has a Master's degree in Medical Sciences (Surgery of the Liver, Bile Ducts and Pancreas) from Fluminense Federal University (UFF 2010). He also holds a PhD from UFF (2016 - Bariatric Surgery).
He is a Full Member of the following societies: Brazilian Society of Videosurgery (SOBRACIL), Brazilian College of Surgeons (CBC), Brazilian Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (SBCBM), Brazilian College of Digestive System Surgery (CBCD). He is an official member of the International Federation of Surgery of the Obesity (IFSO).
Holds a degree in videolaparoscopic surgery from the Université Louis Pasteur de Strasbourg, France. Currently Professor and Adjunct Researcher in the Department of General and Specialized Surgery at the Fluminense Federal University and Full Professor of Pontificia Universidad Católica (PUC) of the bariatric surgery department.
