Born in Naples, Italy, where he graduated with honors in Medicine at the University of
Naples "Federico II". He continued his studies and carried out the practice in London,
Pittsburgh, Lyon, Mumbai, New York, Los Angeles, Birmingham and Cambridge.
In 2000 he became Director of the Department of Laparoscopic Surgery and
General Hospital "San Giovanni Bosco'' in Naples. From 2008 to 2010 he was President of
the Italian Society of Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Diseases (SICOB). He actively
contributes to the publishing world with scientific publications in the field of obesity; he’s
Associate Editor of the official journal of IFSO, Obesity Surgery. He was President of the
International Federation of the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) from
2013 to 2014 and is the current Chairman of the Board of Trustees of IFSO.
He is the Author of more than 123 scientific papers published in peer-reviewed impact
factored scientific journals.
