Dr. Dallemand is a pioneer of minimally invasive surgery and the first to successfully perform and report the laparoscopic approach to Nissen fundoplication. Breaking away from endoscopic procedures in the field of general surgery, his publications include clinical research in the areas of cholecystectomy, esophagectomy, endoscopic fundoplication, vagotomy, abdominal pain and pancreatitis. He partnered with Professor Jacques Marescaux to perform the first noted transvaginal cholecystectomy in April 2007. His areas of interest are medical and surgical aspects of esophageal and intestinal disorders, bilio-pancreatic diseases, minimally invasive and image-guided surgery. Dr. Dallemand is a prominent member of many international surgical societies, including the Belgian Group for Endoscopic Surgery and the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery and Other Interventional Techniques. In 1996, Dr. Dallemand received the EXCEL award from the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
