Prof. Dr. Dimitrios Bolovis is the Head of the Section for Gynaecologic Surgery and Surgical Oncology at the University Department for Gynaecology and Obstetrics at Nuremberg General Hospital since 2008. He started his career in Germany after six years of training in general surgery, oncology, vascular surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology in Greece and in the UK.
At his current position, Prof. Bolovis is in charge of one of the largest gynaecologic surgery departments in Europe. The department offers the full range of benign and malignant surgical treatments. His expertise covers the entire spectrum of minimally invasive, vaginal and open surgery including ultra-radical multivisceral procedures. He is an expert in robotic benign and malignant surgery and serves as an international proctor for all skills levels. Furthermore, he is specialized in urogynecology covering the entire spectrum of surgical and non-surgical urogynecologic therapies.
Prof. Dimitrios Bolovis has established several techniques for pelvic organ prolapse correction, both vaginally and laparoscopic / robotic. Most importantly, he established unilateral pectineal suspension, a revolutionary minimally invasive new technique for the mesh-free apical correction of pelvic organ prolapse. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed impact factored scientific journals.
