Douglas Wood, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.R.C.S.Ed., is a board certified surgeon at UW Medical Center’s Thoracic Surgery Clinic and the UW’s Henry N. Harkins Professor and Chair of Surgery. Dr. Wood is world-renowned in thoracic oncology, particularly lung and esophageal cancer. He is also a national and international leader in the management of complex airway disease and in the surgical management of end-stage lung disease. He has led the UW Thoracic Group to be the leading referral center for patients from all over the Pacific Northwest. Dr. Wood earned his M.D. from Harvard. He is board certified in both Surgery and Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Wood has had a major role in leadership and policy in surgery and thoracic oncology nationally and internationally. He has leadership roles in many medical organizations and has been a visiting professor at over 50 institutions worldwide.
