With more than 15 years of experience in the management of bariatric and metabolic patients in Ecuador, Dr. Gabriela Zapata is a member of the Ecuadorian Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (SECBAMET) and the International Federation for the Surgery of OBESITY AND METABOLIC DISORDERS (IFSO).
Her last advanced studies in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery were performed during the months of January and February 2022 at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico.
She studied medicine at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito. She completed her postgraduate studies in general surgery at the Universidad Internacional del Ecuador in alliance with the Hospital Metropolitano. She has complemented her knowledge in Trauma Surgery and Bariatric Surgery at the Hospital Universitario del Valle Evaristo Garcia in Cali, Colombia.
For several years, Dr. Gabriela Zapata participated in private practice with Dr. Manolo Cortez. Subsequently, she continued her training in bariatric and metabolic surgery in private practice with Dr. Eduardo Bolaños at the Nuevo Hospital Bocagrande in Cali, Colombia; and at the Medihelp Services Clinic in Cartagena, Colombia; in the latter also with Dr. Carlos Felipe Chaux.
Her areas of expertise include laparoscopic general surgery, bariatric, metabolic and endoscopic surgery.
Currently, Dr. Gabriela Zapata serves nationally in Ecuador, with agreements in renowned hospitals and clinics, providing comprehensive treatments based on the clinical profile of each of her patients.
