Dr. Gonzalo Varela currently serves as a Research Advisor at the Salamanca Biomedical Research Institute (IBSAL) in Spain. With a Medical Degree from the University of Navarra and a PhD from the Autonomous University of Madrid, Dr. Varela has been involved in the medical field for decades.

Throughout Dr. Varela's career, he has held various significant positions, including serving as the Chief of Thoracic Surgery Service and Professor of Thoracic Surgery at Salamanca University Hospital and Medical School. His leadership roles also include General Medical Manager at Salamanca University Hospital and Consultant of Thoracic Surgery at Doce de Octubre Hospital in Madrid.

In addition to his clinical roles, Dr. Varela has pursued further education, earning a Master of Science in Health Care Management from the University of Cantabria. His dedication to professional development is further demonstrated by their certification from the European Board of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons.
