Dr. Hannes Cash began his medical career as a Resident Doctor at the Clinic for Urology, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, working under Prof. Dr. K. Miller from 2009 to 2014. Following this, he specialized in Urology at the same clinic until 2016. In 2014 and 2015, he served as a Visiting Scientist at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Genetics, Core Sequencing Facility in Berlin, funded by the Eisenberger Scholarship of the German Society of Urology (DGU).
In 2017, Dr. Cash achieved his Habilitation with a focus on the implications of MRI/ultrasound fusion-guided targeted biopsies on the diagnostics of prostate cancer, earning Venia Legendi for the subject Urology at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. He continued his career as a Senior Physician at the Clinic for Urology, Charité, before taking on the role of Coordinator of the Prostate Cancer Center from 2016 to 2020.
From 2018 to September 2020, Dr. Cash served as the head of BPH laser therapy and imaging of the prostate, fusion biopsy, and focal therapy at the Clinic for Urology, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, under Prof. Dr. T. Schlomm.
In 2018 Dr. Cash’s group was the first du use 29MHz high resolution micro-ultrasound for the diagnostics of prostate cancer in Germany and the groups was among the first groups to publish data on the potential of this novel imaging modality.
In June 2020, Dr. Cash and Dr. Buckendahl founded the specialized practice ProUro Berlin in cooperation MEOCLINIC.
The clinical focus is Greenlight laser treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BHP), minimally invasive treatment of BHP with the REZÜM system, MRI, ultrasound fusion biopsy using micro-ultrasound.
Dr. Cash was involved in both planing and as local PI of the OPTIMUM trial comparing micro-ultrasound to MRI for prostate cancer detection, wich was just published in JAMA.
