Professor García-Perdomo is a full professor at the Division of Urology/Urooncology, Department of Surgery, School of Medicine at Universidad del Valle. He is also a consultant Urologic Oncologist at the Division of Urology, Hospital Universitario del Valle in Cali, Colombia.


He is a doctor in medicine (2005) and a specialist in urology (2011) from the Universidad del Valle; holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology (2012) from the Universidad de la Frontera (Chile); Doctor in Clinical Medicine and Public Health (2015) from the Universidad de Granada (Spain); a Ph.D. in Education (2017) from the Autonomous University of Durango (Mexico); a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences (2019) from the Universidad del Valle, and is a Specialist in Urooncology (2021) by the University of Barcelona.


Professor García-Perdomo is currently a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the Society of Urologic Oncology, the Global Society of Genitourinary Rare Tumors, and the European Association of Urology. Furthermore, he actively participates in different research networks and projects worldwide: Brazil (ABC University, Funesp, University of Campinas), the Netherlands (USA Guidelines Associate), Finland (CLUE Working Group), the United States (MD Anderson Cancer Center, Moffit Cancer Center), Europe (Associate Member of EAU Penile Cancer Guidelines), among other countries.


His main areas of interest include evidence synthesis, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and urologic oncology. He has published more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Results that have had both population and clinical application. He has conducted multiple research projects with experience in different clinical and population research designs, with an emphasis on clinical trials, diagnostic performance, and systematic reviews/meta-analyses. He has had roles as principal investigator, co-investigator and coordinator of these multiple projects.


His main areas of expertise in urology are genitourinary oncology and minimally invasive surgery. As a clinical epidemiologist, he is an expert in systematic reviews and meta-analysis. He combines his role in clinical academic practice, the mentoring and teaching of trainees, and the research in the expertise areas.
