Dr. Takeuchi graduated from Keio University School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan and became an MD in 1992. After training in surgical oncology and the PhD course at Keio University, he studied molecular oncology at John Wayne Cancer Institute, CA, USA between 2001 and 2004. He became a staff surgeon in Keio University Hospital in 2006 and was promoted to professor and chairman at Hamamatsu University School of Medicine in 2017. He has been focusing on minimally invasive surgery including robotics and multimodal treatments for upper GI cancer. He has more than 400 scientific papers including Annals of Surgery, Journal of Clinical Oncology and Clinical Cancer Research.
