Dr. Jan Colpaert is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at the Department of Abominal, Hepatobiliary and Colorectal Surgery in A.S.Z Hospital Aalst, Belgium.
After completing surgical training and spent a year with Dr. David Zimmerman learning the tricks of the trade in colorectal surgery. He pursued specialized fellowship training in colorectal surgery, honing his skills in the precise and intricate procedures needed to treat diseases of the colon and rectum. He completed fellowships in the university hospital of Ghent under – amongst others – Prof Dr. Gabriëlle Van Ramshorst, and was lucky enough to continue his fellowship journey in the University Hospital of Leuven under Prof. Dr. André D’Hoore and the University Hospital of Aarhus, Denmark under Prof. Dr. Peter Christensen. All of which have earned tremendous recognition in the field due to their extensive knowledge and proficiency in advanced surgical techniques.
Dr. Jan Colpaert recently started his own colorectal practice as a consultant Colorectal surgeon and is actively involved in clinical research, teaching and training, hoping to be a mentor for aspiring surgeons.
He became a Fellow of the European Board of Surgery in Coloproctology in 2022 and is currently a board member of the young-ESCP.
His main professional activities and interests focus on minimally invasive colorectal surgery, robotic colorectal surgery, IBD and rectal cancer.
