Jared White, MD, FACS, is an Associate Professor of Surgery and Surgical Director of the Liver Transplantation program at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, South Carolina. He moved to Charleston in 2019 after spending 13 years in Birmingham, Alabama, where he completed his general surgery residency training as well as his abdominal transplant surgery fellowship and remained on faculty at UAB for the next five years.

He is currently serving as the Associate Program Director for the MUSC General Surgery Residency program with plans to transition to the Program Director role in 2023. Dr. White has been active in numerous national and international committees and professional societies in both organ transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery.

Dr. White’s clinical interests pertain to the management of patients with end-stage organ disease and solid organ transplantation. Additionally, he has considerable expertise in minimally invasive liver resection and surgical management of complex hepatobiliary tumors. From a research standpoint, Dr. White’s main interests include the multidisciplinary management of hepatocellular carcinoma, outcomes in liver transplantation, and innovation in surgical education.
