Professor of Surgery (Physiopathology and Surgical Propedeutics, and Surgical Pathology) at the Complutense University of Madrid and Head of Surgery Section at the Hospital Clínico San Carlos (where I held the position of Medical Director between 2016 and 2023). Since 2010 I am Director of the Innovation Unit of the San Carlos Health Research Institute (IdSSC) and a trustee of the San Carlos Biomedical Research Foundation, where I also serve as Vice President. I am an honorary member of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ASGBI) and an international honorary member of the Colégio Brasileiro de Cirurgiões (CBC).
