Kandace P. McGuire, M.D., is a Professor of Surgery, chief of breast surgery and surgical leader of the Breast Health Program at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Massey Cancer Center. She also serves as the senior medical director for the Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center cancer service line and the fellowship director of the complex surgical oncology fellowship at VCU.

Prior to joining VCU, Dr. McGuire was the surgical director of the Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Program at the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of North Carolina. Previously, she served in various roles related to breast cancer care at the University of Pittsburgh Magee-Womens Hospital.

McGuire has published more than 80 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and several book chapters. She has presented at more than 100 professional and academic conferences, both nationally and internationally.

She is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, serves on several national committees and is a member of many professional associations. She is the current president of the Association of Women Surgeons and the former chair of the breast disease working group for the Society of Surgical Oncology.
