Karin Lehrich, MD, is an academic Urologist in the department of Urology at the Vivantes AugusteVictoria-Hospital Berlin, Germany, which is a Teaching Hospital of Berlin University, Charite. After completing medical school at the FU University Berlin, she specialised as an Urological surgeon at the AVK, Berlin and University Hospital Charite, Berlin. In 2002 she finished her doctorate thesis “ Holmium laser enucleation oft he prostate adenomas compared to open prostatectomy of prostates larger than 100g“. She subspecialised in Endourology and the technique of holmium laser enucleation oft he prostate. Since 2012 she is Head of Urological Laser Center Berlin, ULZB. She has performed HoLEP in several international live surgery meetings, workshops and given presentations at international meetings. Training of other doctors in the technique of HoLEP is a main topic next to clinical work. and mentoring at the holmium academy.
