Dr. Matías Sosa is a 38-year-old Bariatric Surgeon, Co-Director of CITOS Bariatric and Metabolic Center located in the cities of Paraná and Santa Fe, in Argentina. He graduated from Medical School at the National University of Córdoba, Argentina in 2009, and four years later, he obtained his Specialty in General Surgery at the same Educational Institution by the age of 27.
In 2013, he performed a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at Humanitas Hospital, in Milano (Italy) endorsed by the Università Degli Studi di Milano. One year later, in 2014, became a Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Fellow at Sanatorio Allende Institution, obtaining his Specialty Degree endorsed by the Catholic University of Córdoba (Argentina).
He is the author of several scientific papers and a collaborative author in book chapters and presentations, and he is a constant attendant and participant in National and International Congresses, being a key opinion leader in his region despite his youth.
He is a member of SACO (Argentinian Society of Surgery of Obesity) and IFSO, with active participation in SACO and IFSOLAC Communication Committees since 2020 and 2022, respectively.
In 2017, at the age of 31, with his partner Dr. Pablo Castellaro, founded CITOS Center in Paraná City, a new integrated health approach for overweight and obesity confirmed by young professionals. By 2021, they managed to replicate successfully their approach and opened a new subsidiary CITOS Clinic at Sanatorio Mayo in Santa Fe city, and have performed more than 450 surgical cases and more than 100 gastric balloon placements since the CITOS foundation.
Currently, there are new objectives in CITOS expansion and brand growth to reinforce the bariatric leadership in its region.
His main professional and scientific interests are focused on Ambulatory Bariatric Surgery, working alongside anesthesia professionals in Multimodal Approaches to shorten hospital length stays and maximize analgesia resources.
