Dr. Álvarez de Sierra graduated in Medicine from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 2006 and completed his specialty in General and Digestive System Surgery at the General Surgery Service III of the Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón in 2012 (head of Service, Prof. García Sabrido).
During the specialty, he obtained the degree of Doctor of Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid. The clinical orientation of this stage was directed towards maximum effort oncological surgery, receiving training in radical abdominal, retroperitoneal, pelvic and esophageal oncological surgery, procedures with intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT), peritonectomy and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), as well as in laparoscopic surgery, liver transplant surgery and basic surgical pathologies. He did a rotation as an Observer in the Thoracic Surgery Service at Toronto General Hospital focused on esophageal and pulmonary surgery.
Since the end of his time as a resident, he has been active as a surgeon in Dr. Merello's team at the Hospital La Moraleja, with training in laparoscopic colorectal, gastric and abdominal wall surgery and now at the Hospital Universitario Quirónsalud Madrid.
