Dr. Pedro Botelho recently started his position as a General Surgery Specialist in the General Surgery Department of Hospital Garcia de Orta (Almada) and Hospital CUF Tejo, in Lisbon, Portugal. In 2012 He graduated in General Medicine from Charles University in Prague – Faculty of Medicine of Plzen, Czech Republic receiving a scholarship for excellence in studies. He completed his General Surgery Residency at Hospital Garcia de Orta from 2016 to 2022. Since 2020, he has been invited to serve as an assistant professor of the General Surgery curriculum at Universidade de Lisboa – Faculdade de Medicina. Also, he is a registered doctor in the General Medical Council (reference number 7458022) in the UK, with full license and registration.
Dr. Botelho is the current Coordinator of the Resident ́s Commission in the Sociedade Portuguesa de Hérnia e Parede Abdominal (Portuguese Society of Hernia and Abdominal Wall). He is a member of various surgical societies, like the Portuguese Society of Surgery, a Resident Member of the American College of Surgeons (Member ID 3289932), the European Association of Endocrine Surgery (EAES ID: 9704), European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP ID: 13874).
His main professional and scientific interests are gastrointestinal oncologic surgery and minimally invasive general surgery, always with a focus on the quality of care, including patient-reported outcomes, health economics and sustainability in surgery “green-surgery”.
