Prof. Dr. Peter Kienle was born in Stuttgart in 1966. He completed his schooling in Nairobi, Kenya. He studied human medicine in Heidelberg and the USA and completed his practical training at the Heidelberg University Hospital. There he also completed his specialist training in general and visceral surgery and then worked as a senior physician. In 2004 he completed his habilitation with the topic "Implications of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in colorectal surgery". Since 2007 he has been senior physician and deputy clinic director at the University Medical Center Mannheim. In 2018 he became head of general and visceral surgery at the Theresienkrankenhaus.
Prof. Dr. Kienle has many years of surgical experience. His professional passion and treatment focus lie in colon surgery, particularly in the treatment of chronic inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and surgical oncology.
