Dr. Rudy Leon De Wilde now holds the position of Professor of Gynecology in the Faculty VI of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Oldenburg, a position he has been managing since 2013. He has been the Medical Director of the Pius Hospital Oldenburg since 1992, where he leads the Department of Gynecology, Obstetrics, and Gynecological Oncology / University Clinic of Gynecology. Before taking over the leadership of the Department of Gynecology at the Pius Hospital, De Wilde worked as a senior physician at the Women's Clinic in Wuppertal. During his studies at the Catholic University of Leuven, the Belgian native focused on new surgical techniques. He became a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology and specialized in microsurgery, special operative gynecology, and gynecological oncology. Additionally, he is a gynecological endocrinologist, reproductive and sexual medicine specialist. De Wilde has received numerous awards from various national and international societies, particularly in the fields of oncology, plastic surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and gynecological surgical techniques. He played a significant role in the development of German and European criteria for minimally invasive certifications. Furthermore, De Wilde is a founding member of the Federal Working Group of Leading Physicians in Obstetrics and Gynecology and has held leadership positions in the German Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics as well as the Regional Cancer Center Weser-Ems. He holds leadership positions in numerous national and international professional societies. He has published over 200 scientific contributions in medical journals and is considered one of the pioneers in the field of minimally invasive surgery.
