Dr. Mattar is Professor and Chief in the Division of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. Formerly, he was the Medical Director of Swedish Weight Loss Services in Seattle, WA, and prior to that, he was a Professor of Surgery at Oregon Health & Science University. He is also the Past President of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons and the President of the Fellowship Council. His practice is entirely bariatric in nature and his main clinical interests are in the area of standardizing pathways and optimizing patient outcomes. He has published numerous articles and book chapters in the field and he enjoys teaching and advocating for his patients.
