Sonia Ramamoorthy, M.D., is the chief of the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery. She is also the 2024-2025 president of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the premier colorectal society representing nearly 5000 colorectal surgeons throughout the United States and Canada. Dr. Ramamoorthy is the fourth female president and the first Asian female president of the 125-year-old surgical society. She previously served in various leadership roles within the society and has helped to establish the Leadership and Professional Development Program (Surgical Leadership Institute), the New Tech Symposium, among many other contributions to the society.
