Dr. Vincent Reid grew up in rural St. Andrews, where he developed an early interest in medicine. During his childhood, he often spent time at Kingston’s public hospital, where his grandmother worked providing custodial services. After graduating from Oberlin High School and later Wolmer’s Boys School, he migrated to the United States and enrolled at The City College of New York. There, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry, graduating cum laude with honors in chemistry. He was also awarded the prestigious Jonas Salk Scholarship and the Baskerville Memorial Award for Excellence in Chemistry.

Dr. Reid completed his medical degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and subsequently pursued his internship and residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. During his time at Maimonides, he was honored with the Intern of the Year Award, the Bertram Cohn Outstanding Resident Award, and the Chief Resident of the Year Award. He then received specialized, accredited fellowship training in head and neck surgical oncology from the esteemed Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

While at Memorial Sloan-Kettering, Dr. Reid conducted and published groundbreaking basic science research on the role of the herpes simplex virus in the treatment of head and neck cancers, as well as other malignancies. He also contributed as an author to the renowned clinical textbook, Complications of Head and Neck Surgery.

Dr. Reid began his career as an Attending Surgeon in the Division of Surgical Oncology at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, New York. He later joined the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center as Medical Director of Surgical Oncology and served as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Currently, Dr. Reid is the Chairman of Surgery at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and a board member of the Iowa Cancer Consortium.
