Dr. W. Tyler Crawley, DO is a fourth-year general surgery resident in Denver, CO USA. He grew up in Albuquerque, NM where he completed his Bachelor of Science at the University of New Mexico (UNM). He moved to Denver in 2017 where he completed his medical school training at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine before matching into general surgery residency at HCA HealthOne: Swedish Medical Center. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the Association of Out Surgeons and Allies (AOSA), and the Gold Humanism Sigma Sigma Phi honor societies. He is active with multiple medical and community-based organizations.

He is the current secretary for the American College of Surgeons Resident and Associate Society (RAS-ACS) education committee and the chair of the 2024 So You Think You Can Operate competition. He also serves as the resident liaison to the ACS Board of Governors Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – Education and Advocacy working group. 

He is the resident chair of the HCA HealthOne Resident Advisory Council and serves as the resident representative to the Graduate Medical Education Council for the Continental Division of HCA.

He is a community organizer for OneColorado, the state’s largest LGBTQ+ advocacy organization and has lobbied and spoken before the state legislature in favor of pro-equality legislation.

He is a founder and the current treasurer of Altitude FC, which is Colorado’s premier LGBTQ+ soccer organization.

His professional and scientific interests focus on medical education and the perioperative care of LGBTQIA+ patients. His current research is on trauma outcomes for minority populations and the perceptions and interests of medical trainees to pursue careers in gender-affirming care. He plans to apply for a Trauma/Critical Care fellowship in the spring of 2025. 

Outside of residency, he enjoys spending time with his husband who is an anesthesia resident, and their two dogs, Leo and Kora. He is an active runner, cyclist, and triathlete.
