Dr. Michel Gagner (Canada) and his team at the Westmount Square Surgical Center (Canada) will perform a Magnetic Gastro-Ileostomy (MAGGI) for weight regain and answer all your questions.
  1. Welcome and Introduction 

  2. Case Presentation

    1. Patient: 42-year-old female who underwent sleeve gastrectomy in 2018 (at the time of the surgery, she was 154 kg, BMI of 58.4 kg/m²). Currently, after weight regain, she is 103 kg, BMI of 39 kg/m².

    2. Procedure: Due to concerns regarding weight regain, the patient will undergo a Magnetic Gastro-Ileostomy (MAGGI).

  3. Surgical Procedure - Steps

    1. Lower magnet delivered by gastroscopy, post-pyloric

    2. Fluoroscopy to confirm jejunal position

    3. Laparoscopy for bowel length measurements

    4. Lower magnet moved to 250 cm from the ileocecal valve

    5. Gastroscopy to deliver upper magnet in the antrum

    6. Appositions of magnets

    7. Closure of mesenteric defect (Petersen's)
