Case Presentation
Patient: 42-year-old female who underwent sleeve gastrectomy in 2018 (at the time of the surgery, she was 154 kg, BMI of 58.4 kg/m²). Currently, after weight regain, she is 103 kg, BMI of 39 kg/m².
Procedure: Due to concerns regarding weight regain, the patient will undergo a Magnetic Gastro-Ileostomy (MAGGI).
Surgical Procedure - Steps
Lower magnet delivered by gastroscopy, post-pyloric
Fluoroscopy to confirm jejunal position
Laparoscopy for bowel length measurements
Lower magnet moved to 250 cm from the ileocecal valve
Gastroscopy to deliver upper magnet in the antrum
Appositions of magnets
Closure of mesenteric defect (Petersen's)
