MGB/OAGB has emerged as a technically easier option to RYGB.

Performing only one anastomosis has the potential to shorten operative time and reduce leak-related complications.

Many surgeons have been defending this recent procedure and believe it will replace RYGB in the future.

Evidence from comparative and randomized studies shows that, although OAGB has good weight loss results, it is not as safe or reproducible, in comparison to RYGB.
