Mission, Vision and Values
Mision
The SECT is a non-profit medical-scientific society whose purpose is to contribute to the progress of thoracic surgery, striving for excellence in care.
- Progress of Thoracic Surgery in all its aspects, promoting teaching and research, as well as the development and professional improvement of thoracic surgeons.
- Excellence in care, adding value to the health and quality of life of patients requiring the specialty of Thoracic Surgery in Spain.
Vision
The SECT aims to become the scientific society that promotes research, innovation, continuing education and effective care of its members:
- Adapting to technological and social changes.
- Accompanying them in the achievement of developing the professional practice of their specialty in a satisfactory and competent way.
- Leading the representation of Spanish thoracic surgeons in all areas.
- Encouraging their active participation in society.
- Renewing itself dynamically to endure over time. Values Integrity: Working in a committed manner with the SECT, with its members and with the Society in general, leading Spanish thoracic surgery in a rigorous, honest, coherent, loyal and responsible way.
- Transparency: Improving the corporate image and the added value of the SECT, increasing the confidence of its members and other parties involved, communicating its actions to its members and other parties involved.

- Integrity: Working in a committed manner with the SECT, with its members and with the Society in general, leading Spanish thoracic surgery in a rigorous, honest, coherent, loyal and responsible way.
- Transparency: Improving the corporate image and the added value of the SECT, increasing the confidence of its members and other parties involved, communicating its actions in a serious, orderly and committed manner through a strategic plan.
- Innovation: Continuously redefining the purpose of its actions, reconsidering and reevaluating the investment/results ratio, and redesigning products and services to improve the evolution and sustainability in the implementation of new technologies.
- Planning: Learning about the future before it happens, identifying new opportunities or unexpected risks, generating with initiative proposals that impact and improve the health and quality of life of society.
- Excellence: Developing outstanding ideas and projects in the management of the organization, achieving the results set by the SECT: leadership and management of thoracic surgery.
- Equity and representativeness: Developing an inclusive leadership, which gives way to collaborative work models based on human values such as trust, unity, respect, solidarity, accessibility and horizontality of the members of the SECT.
