BPH is a pathological enlargement of the prostate gland. It is a very common disease affecting men over 50, with a prevalence of 90% in those over 80.
The causes are not clear, but hormone changes are thought to play a role.
Patients with BPH may present with symptoms that vary from mild to severe, and are commonly referred to as low obstructive urinary symptoms (weak urinary flow, nocturia, frequent urination, urgency, etc.).
In this lecture, Dr. Vincent Misrai explains the demands and expectations of patients proposed for TURP procedures, as well as the various options available.
