Smoke is a significant issue that arises when surgeons with experience in the transanal approach to rectal diseases discuss the pitfalls and limitations of this technique. Different strategies have been proved without satisfactory results. Recently, the AirSeal has been successfully used.
The AirSeal is an insufflator and smoke-evacuating device that makes it possible to maintain a constant pressure. The valveless trocar makes it possible to operate avoiding smudging during insertion.
Its valve-free design prevents seal tearing during instrument insertion and trocar dislodgement.
As an important tip, the black line should always be inside the cavity to ensure constant pressure.
