This course is intended for general surgeons interested in the field of bariatric surgery who have experience in minimally invasive (MIS). This 2-day course will provide participants with in-depth teaching and hands-on training by international experts.
The purpose of this course is to train general and MIS surgeons in the techniques of Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastectomy, Duodenal Switch and revisional procedures. The course includes interactive workshops, a meet-the-professor luncheon, and an expert panel discussion. Supplementing these will be didactic and interactive sessions focusing on the rationale for metabolic surgery, patient selection, operative techniques, and perioperative care. Live surgery demonstration and intensive hands-on practice on a porcine model will train participants in the surgical techniques and instrumentation for these procedures: laparoscopic stapling and suturing, laparoscopic preparation of a Roux en Y loop, laparoscopic gastric bypass, and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.
This course is ideally designed at senior trainees and consultant surgeons that have already acquired some skills in basic laparoscopic techniques and wish to learn bariatric surgery.
